Separation of Church and State

It is often stated that it is important that there is a separation between church and state.  However, can the church really separate itself from the state?  Do you believe the church has a responsibility to sound the trumpet of justice on injustice in government?  Perhaps, the church should sit on the sidelines and allow injustice to be done to the church by the state.  Is it time for the church to take a stronger position and have a stronger voice regarding what happens politically?

  1. In answering this question, I think of Dr. Martin Luther King. He was a man of God and a Pastor, but he was very active in correcting injustice. I don't believe that the church can completely separate from the state. It is unrealistic in the days and times that we are living. This question ties-in somewhat to the question on racism as well. With so much racism and injustice in our country, we can't afford to sit up in our churches and act like we don't know or care what's going on around us in our communities. We just need to remember to put God first in all that we do. Our message needs always to be one of faith and be based on Biblical principles as we fight injustice.

  2. Seperation of church and state in what aspect? Should the church get involved in some of the governmental issues of its members ?,absolutely when necessary . However , the church itself needs some governmental interventions. With all of the scams and scandals that go on in some of these churches ,the government should be involved . I would say (this is me talking),If a church is considered a mega church the government should have some say so in it's practices and procedures to a certain degree.
